We are absolutely thrilled to join forces with our friends at True Aussie Beef & Lamb to present this exceptional Grilled New York Strip with Chimichurri Sauce recipe. Their dedication to producing superior, high-quality grass-fed beef truly shines through in every aspect of this dish, ensuring a premium experience from farm to fork. The New York Strip is undeniably one of my absolute favorite cuts of steak, offering a remarkable balance of tenderness, rich marbling, and intense beefy flavor. The chimichurri sauce, a vibrant condiment originating from Argentina and Uruguay, is what truly elevates this meal to the next level, infusing it with an invigorating burst of fresh herbs and tanginess.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and efficiency. The entire meal comes together in 15 minutes or less, proving that you don’t need to spend hours in the kitchen to create something truly spectacular. I often serve this grilled steak with wholesome and delicious sides to complete the experience. A creamy Garlic Cauliflower Mash is a fantastic, low-carb option that perfectly complements the steak (you can find a similar recipe inspiration here, easily adaptable for cauliflower). Grilled summer squash and zucchini are also excellent choices, providing a light, seasonal crunch that balances the richness of the beef. However, feel free to pair it with any sides that delight your palate! Some other highly recommended suggestions include Creamy Dairy-Free Mashed Potatoes for a comforting touch, a vibrant Mexican Street Corn & Tomato Salad (for those not adhering strictly to Keto/Paleo, or a modified version), or the fragrant Coconut Cilantro Lime Cauliflower Rice for an exotic twist. The versatility of this steak and chimichurri combination ensures that you can always find a perfect pairing.

The Superior Choice: Why Australian Grass-fed Beef?

When it comes to selecting the best ingredients for my kitchen, quality, sustainability, and ethical practices are always at the forefront of my mind. This is precisely why I consistently choose Australian Grass-fed Beef. Australia has earned a global reputation for producing some of the highest quality grass-fed beef and lamb in the world. This exceptional standard is a direct result of their unwavering commitment to caring for both their animals and the environment, which forms the core of everything they do. Their cattle roam freely and graze on lush, natural pastures, leading healthier lives and contributing to a superior product. This holistic approach to farming deeply resonates with my values, making True Aussie Beef & Lamb a brand I am genuinely proud to work with and recommend to everyone.

Unpacking the Health Benefits of Grass-fed Beef

Australian grass-fed beef is more than just a delicious protein source; it’s a nutritional powerhouse. Raised exclusively on natural grass diets, these beef products are inherently leaner than their grain-fed counterparts. More importantly, they naturally contain 13 essential nutrients that are crucial for maintaining good health and overall well-being. These vital nutrients include a significant amount of iron, which is indispensable for energy production and preventing fatigue; zinc, a key player in immune system function and cellular repair; and a beneficial array of B vitamins, essential for metabolic processes and supporting nerve health.

One of the most remarkable advantages of grass-fed beef is its superior fatty acid profile. It boasts a higher concentration of beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids, renowned for their anti-inflammatory properties and their role in promoting heart health and cognitive function. This makes grass-fed beef an excellent choice for individuals focused on optimizing their nutrition, particularly those following dietary plans like Whole30, Paleo, or Keto, where nutrient density is a primary consideration. Furthermore, a practical benefit of grass-fed beef is its tendency to cook approximately 30% faster than traditional grain-fed meats. This not only saves time in the kitchen but also makes it an even more convenient option for busy individuals seeking quick, healthy, and flavorful meals.

Ready to experience the undeniable difference that Australian grass-fed beef can make in your cooking? Finding this premium product is easier than you think. Crafting the Perfect Chimichurri: Simple Ingredients, Explosive Flavor

The true genius of this recipe lies not only in the exceptional quality of the New York Strip steak but also in the vibrant, herbaceous simplicity of the chimichurri sauce. This fresh, uncooked condiment is an absolute game-changer, transforming an already delicious steak into an extraordinary culinary delight. It’s remarkably straightforward to prepare, requiring only a handful of common ingredients, and comes together in a matter of minutes. This dish is a testament to the idea that often, the most simple preparations yield the most profound and satisfying flavors.

What You’ll Need for the Steak:

  • New York Strip Steaks: For the best flavor and nutritional benefits, I wholeheartedly recommend using Australian Grass-fed steaks. These are increasingly available at many local grocery stores.
  • High-Quality Olive Oil: Essential for brushing the steaks, which helps to achieve a beautiful, even sear and prevents sticking to the grill.
  • Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper: These are the only seasonings truly necessary. When cooking a premium cut of beef, simple seasoning allows the steak’s natural, rich flavors to shine through beautifully. Don’t be shy – season liberally to create a delicious crust!

For the Bright and Zesty Chimichurri:

  • 1 cup Flat Leaf Parsley, packed: The foundation of any good chimichurri. Flat leaf parsley offers a more robust, peppery, and less bitter flavor compared to its curly counterpart. Freshness here is absolutely paramount for a vibrant sauce.
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced: Adds a powerful, pungent, and aromatic kick. Freshly minced garlic is crucial; avoid pre-minced for the best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Oregano: Contributes an earthy, slightly peppery, and aromatic note that perfectly complements the parsley. If fresh oregano is unavailable, you can substitute with 2 teaspoons of dried oregano, though fresh is always preferred.
  • 1.5 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar: Provides the essential tang and acidity. This bright, sharp component is what cuts through the richness of the steak and balances all the other flavors.
  • ⅓ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil: The base of the sauce, it binds all the fresh ingredients together and imparts a smooth, luxurious texture. Choose a good quality extra virgin olive oil for the best taste.
  • ½ tsp Sea Salt: Crucial for enhancing and bringing out the full spectrum of flavors in the herbs and garlic. Adjust to your personal preference.
  • ½ tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes: Delivers a subtle, pleasant warmth and a touch of heat, adding another layer of complexity to the sauce. You can easily adjust the quantity to suit your preferred level of spice.

Preparing the chimichurri sauce is incredibly quick and straightforward. My favorite tool for this task is a food processor, which can transform all the ingredients into a perfectly chunky paste in about 30 seconds from start to finish. The key is to pulse it a few times until it forms a coarse mixture – be careful not to over-mix, as you want a chunky paste, not a smooth, pureed sauce. An added benefit is that this versatile chimichurri sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. This means you can easily prepare a batch ahead of time, ensuring you have a flavorful topping ready for multiple meals throughout the week. When it comes to the steak itself, I truly believe that the finest cuts require minimal fuss. A generous coating of high-quality olive oil, sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper is all it takes to highlight the inherent deliciousness of the beef, proving once again that sometimes, the simplest approach yields the most exquisite results.

Grilling Mastery: Achieving Steakhouse Quality at Home

Grilling a New York Strip steak to perfection might seem daunting, but with a few essential tips and techniques, you can confidently achieve steakhouse-quality results right in your own backyard. The secret to a truly outstanding grilled steak lies in careful preparation, precise heat management, and a touch of patience. Follow these steps to unlock the full potential of your New York Strip and impress your family and friends with your grilling prowess.

Preparing Your Steak for Grilling

  1. Bring to Room Temperature: This is a crucial first step that many overlook. Always remove your steaks from the refrigerator approximately 20 minutes before you plan to cook them. Allowing the steaks to come closer to room temperature ensures more even cooking throughout the meat, preventing the exterior from overcooking before the interior reaches your desired level of doneness.
  2. Season Generously: Begin by patting the steaks thoroughly dry with paper towels. A dry surface is key to achieving a fantastic sear and crust. Next, brush each side liberally with a good quality olive oil. The oil not only aids in the searing process but also acts as a binder for your seasonings. Season both sides generously with coarse sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Don’t be afraid to use a good amount of salt; it’s vital for developing that coveted, flavorful crust.

Grilling Technique for Medium-Rare Perfection

  1. Preheat Your Grill to Medium-High: A properly preheated grill is fundamental for searing the steak effectively and creating those beautiful, charred grill marks. Ensure your grill grates are clean before you begin.
  2. First Side Sear: Carefully place the seasoned steaks directly on the hot grill grates. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on the first side. This initial sear is essential for developing a rich, flavorful crust and locking in the juices.
  3. Flip and Finish: Using tongs, flip the steaks to the second side. Continue cooking for an additional 4 minutes for a perfect medium-rare doneness, which typically corresponds to an internal temperature of 135°F. If you prefer your steak medium (140°F), allow an extra 1 to 2 minutes of cooking time. For those who enjoy a medium-well steak (150°F), extend the cooking by an additional 3 to 4 minutes after flipping. Remember, these times are approximate guidelines; the most accurate way to ensure your steak reaches your preferred doneness is by using a reliable meat thermometer.
  4. Resting is Key: Once your steaks have reached your desired internal temperature, remove them immediately from the grill. Transfer them to a clean plate and loosely tent them with aluminum foil. Allow the steaks to rest undisturbed for at least 10 minutes. This critical resting period allows the muscle fibers to relax and the delicious juices to redistribute evenly throughout the meat, resulting in a significantly more tender and flavorful steak. Slicing too soon will cause all those precious juices to run out, leaving you with a drier, less enjoyable piece of meat.

Serving Your Masterpiece

Once rested, slice your New York Strip steak against the grain into thick, succulent pieces. This technique helps to shorten the muscle fibers, making each bite even more tender. Generously drizzle the freshly prepared chimichurri sauce over the sliced steak. The harmonious combination of the smoky, perfectly tender beef and the bright, zesty, herbaceous sauce is an absolute match made in culinary heaven. Serve your exquisite Grilled New York Strip with Chimichurri Sauce immediately alongside your chosen side dishes and prepare to receive rave reviews from your delighted diners!
